What's getting
in your way?

You don't need a part number to describe the problem. Is the key missing? Does the handle turn without opening the door? Does the remote do nothing? Those details help narrow down the kind of work you need.

Whether it is urgent or something you've been meaning to fix, check the scope and availability for your address before arranging a visit.

Car keys / a useful distinction

Still have one
working key?

That small detail can change the job. Making a spare while you have a key that starts the car is a different starting point from replacing every key after a loss.

Then there is the fob that unlocks the doors but won't start the engine. Its buttons and its starting function do separate jobs. Explain what still works, and mention any replacement part you have already bought.

A car key replacement should cover the functions you need. Before the work ends, check the starting function, the remote buttons and any included emergency blade.

At the shop or office

The lock is one
part of the entrance.

A door has to close, latch and let people leave as intended. If a closer slams the door or an exit bar sticks, describe that separately from a lost key. Our commercial door hardware page explains the difference.

For keys and credentials, think about people as well as doors. A manager's master key, a staff key and a visitor's access code do not need to open the same places. A short business access plan helps keep those decisions clear.

Dallas is more than an address

Right building.
Right entrance.

You might be on foot near an Uptown apartment while your car is in a deck a street away. The address gets us to the property. A garage entrance, level and row get the conversation closer to the car.

At a home, say which door is involved. The front entrance, a side gate and the door from the garage can use different hardware. At an office, check whether the work concerns your suite or the building's shared entrance.

DFW and Love Field are separate airports. At DFW, a terminal reference isn't the same as a Terminal, Remote or Express parking location. Keep the parking details from your ticket or confirmation handy.

Garage door repair / Dallas

What happened
when it stopped?

A loud sound, an uneven door or an opener that hums without moving it are useful details. You don't need to keep trying the controls to prove the fault.

Keep people and cars out of the opening if the door looks unstable. Leave springs, cables and brackets alone, and don't bypass safety sensors to make the door move.

We include garage door repair, spring and opener work, and new door installation. The right starting point depends on the door, its condition and what you want to change.

More Dallas questions
Can I keep my locks and change the keys?
Often, if the existing locks are suitable and in sound condition. Rekeying changes which key operates the lock. Loose hardware or a door that catches may need a separate repair.
Do you need the old car key?
A working key helps, but losing every key does not always mean the car has to be towed. The year, make, model and key type determine the options. Read about a spare key versus all keys lost, then check compatibility for your vehicle.
How do I get a useful estimate?
Explain the symptom and what you want working at the end. Ask whether the estimate includes the visit, labor, parts and any programming. If the scope changes after inspection, agree on the revised work before it begins. See pricing and estimates.
