Key fobs & programming in Dallas

The buttons can work while the car still refuses to start. A fob's different functions need to be checked separately.

Tell us what the fob does now

Does one button fail, or do all of them? Does the spare work? Did the problem begin after the fob was dropped, got wet or had its battery changed? These details are more useful than guessing that the whole unit needs replacing.

A cracked case is not the same fault as a car that no longer recognizes the key. A new battery won't resolve every problem either. Keep the old fob, including any small emergency blade, until the replacement options have been discussed. Avoid throwing away a part that may still contain useful information.

The correct part comes before programming

Key fobs that look alike can have different electronics. The vehicle's year, make, model and key system matter, as does the part number where one is available. Confirm compatibility before ordering a replacement on the strength of a photograph or the number of buttons.

If you already bought a fob, tell LockReach that it is customer-supplied. The supplied-key guide explains what to check. Some parts may not be suitable for the vehicle or the proposed work. Acceptance and any limits should be agreed before a visit. A remote that has already been paired is not proof that its starting function is ready.

Agree on the result you want

Perhaps you need a second fob while the first still works. Perhaps every key is gone and the car cannot be moved. Those requests can involve different steps, equipment and parts. Ask what is included in the estimate and whether a separate blade needs cutting.

For a Dallas parking-garage visit, give the location of the vehicle rather than only the building's mailing address. Have ownership or permission information available and mention if it is locked inside. After the work, test starting and every button included in the job. If a door blade is provided, check that as well.
